Mrs. Anju. K. Ghose

Attorney, Head of Chambers

Mrs. Anju. K. Ghose is the holder of a 2nd Class Upper Division LLB degree from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom.

She returned to Mauritius to complete the Solicitors Vocational Examination which she passed with flying colors.

Mrs. Anju. K. Ghose is a practicing Attorney since November 2001 and with 19 years practice. She is today the Head of Chambers.

She sits as Director on various management companies, private companies and fund management companies. She is also the legal advisor of numerous banks, private companies, financial funds and insurance entities in Mauritius.

Mrs. Anju. K. Ghose has been nominated Pupil Master since 2017 and is honoured to have coached and guided several Attorneys and Counsels to prepare for their calling in the profession.

Mrs. Anju. K. Ghose is supported by a panel of lawyers and a dedicated staff. Her personal and empathetic approach has proven invaluable in assisting clients. She believes in her clients and becomes their staunch defender. She has a proven track record of success and a clever tactical eye. She works closely with leading barristers, including Senior Counsels, to ensure the best possible outcome for our clients. As a highly experienced Attorney,  she advises and represents clients in civil matters, corporate issues and commercial litigations. She also specialises in arbitration matters and has appeared before the International Court of Arbitration.

Mrs. Anju. K. Ghose is AML/CFT certified and is very conversant in dealing with money laundering cases.

Mrs.Anju.K.Ghose’s great grand parents are of Benjali origin having emigrated to Mauritius from India as traders. Her family has since then settled down in Mauritius and brought their contribution in the legal profession since 2 generations now.


Mr. Robin. L. Appaya

Barrister at Law

Mr. Robin Appaya focuses his practice on matters involving corporate and commercial litigation as well as land matters (freehold and leasehold). He graduated from the University of London with a bachelor’s degree in law and he was called to the Bar of England and Wales and now is a full-fledged practicing Barrister at the Mauritian Bar. Prior to joining Ghose Chambers, Mr. Robin Appaya was the Senior Legal Adviser of the Ministry of Housing and Lands and the ex-chairman of the Independent Broadcasting Authority. Additionally, he is the legal adviser of various Global Business Companies and advises on stock market listings. He also advises on construction claims, procurement laws and Public Private Partnership’s financial structures and contracts. Mr Robin Appaya also holds a Master degree in International Business law with a focus in Public Private Partnership  Contracts  with the University of Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) under aegis of the Sorbonne-Assas International Law School and a Master degree in Business  Administration with the University of Mauritius.

Mr. Robin Appaya serves as litigation counsel for various national and international corporations in the property development market including Property Development Schemes and Smart City Projects. He also advises on coastal property developments such as hotels and villas and advises investors, promoters, buyers and contractors on such projects.


Sonali Doolooa

Barrister at Law

Sonali started her experience with Ghose Chambers as a pupil in January 2020. Even at the very start of her career, she showed that she could provide valuable support to the practice.

Upon being called to the bar in September 2021, Sonali joined the team at Ghose Chambers, where she is now an integral member of the team.

Sonali read law at the University of Bedfordshire, Luton United Kingdom. She then completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Bond University, Australia and was called at the bar of the Queensland Supreme Court, Australia in 2019. She is a member of the Queensland Law society. Sonali has a particular interest in family and criminal matters, areas of law where she is often called upon to appear in Court.

During her spare time, Sonali teaches Ju-Jitsu, a martial art in which she is a holder of a 4th dan black belt. She is always attentive to the needs of her clients and committed to providing the highest quality services.

Mr. Robin Pothiah

Barrister

Robin joined Ghose Chambers in October 2023. He read law at BPP University, London. He completed his Bar Professional Training Course at BPP University, Bristol and was called to the Bar of England and Wales and the Mauritius Bar in 2019 and 2021, respectively.

Prior to his career at the Bar, Robin worked as Legal Executive in an international law firm based in Mauritius. His focus areas are in corporate and commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate due diligence, asset finance, corporate restructures and cross-border transactions.

His areas of expertise are in Corporate, Commercial and Intellectual  Property matters. He is actively involved in negotiating and drafting of commercial agreements, drafting of company constitutions, drafting legal opinions in credit finance transactions, engaging with local regulatory authorities, negotiating shareholders’ agreements and general advisory work.

Upon joining the Bar, Robin focused on civil and commercial litigations before the Mauritian Courts.


Mr. Ashraf Janbocus

Head Accountant

Ashraf , a professional accountant, heads the accounting department which monitors and processes the financial records of the Chambers. The accounting department liaises with clients as regards the payments to be effected, issues VAT invoices and receipts for all payments received.


Mrs. Marie Nathalie La

Office Support Assistant

Nathalie has joined Ghose Chambers as Office Support Assistant in September 2012, is responsible for all despatches and assists in the day to day running of the Chambers.
